Listen. I’m all about trying your best and all that jazz, but Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin should probably temper it down as we draw closer to Opening Day. He doesn’t need to be risking his body for worthless spring training games like he did this afternoon against the Phillies.

As you can see above, Martin showed off his defensive prowess and tracked down an Odubel Herrera pop fly in foul territory. The one problem? He had to crash into a net that was protecting some Phillies coaches in the process. The Canadian hero almost walked away unscathed, but the netting tripped him up and a pole came crashing down onto his face/man bun:

Martin, now 35, only played in 91 games last season due to an oblique injury. He still put up a respectable slash line of .221/.343/.388 with 13 home runs.

I normally wouldn’t bother to blog about a walk-off home run in spring training, but come on, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. obliterating a pitch at his father’s old stomping grounds of Olympic Stadium? That’s the type of stuff that will make you believe baseball gods are a thing.

As you can see below, the people of Montreal were treated to the happiest of endings Tuesday night as Vlad Jr. capped off the spring with a moonshot off Jack Flaherty. The fact that it came against the Cardinals should make some folks irrationally happy.

Going out on a limb here: this might make up for his favorite ice cream machine disappearing from the stadium.

For those not up on their baseball, Vlad Jr. is a blue chipper and is a consensus top-five prospect…

A curtain call in spring training. Why not?

Rougned Odor has been a trash player since the 2016 season, but he’s still quite productive when it comes to trolling Blue Jays.

Yes. Odor’s nemesis Jose Bautista is long gone, but ill will towards their star pitcher, Marcus Stroman, was evident Saturday night. As you can see below, Odor showed up Stroman during one of his at-bats and both mocked his delivery and delivered a little crotch grab in a bizarre sequence:

If you’re wondering why Odor has transferred his hate from Bautista to Stroman, it’s probably because of this tweet post-Bautista KO punch:

Honestly this show of bravado is a good move on Odor’s part. He’s hitting just .194 to start the season so it’s probably best to distract Rangers fans with Blue Jays hate.

The Toronto Blue Jays have missed their last two games in Cleveland due to rain at Progressive Field, but Canadians need not fear for the elements ruining plans this week. Their Jays are back home for a three-game series against the Royals, and nothing can stop baseball from being played with the Rogers Centre having a roof.

Blue Jays Twitter smugly announced “today’s game will be… played as expected” because of said fancy-schmancy roof:

Obviously bummer news for Jays fans hoping to see a C- matchup between Eric Skoglund and Jaime Garcia, but it’s probably not worth risking people getting buried by falling snow:

It’s a tough week for Toronto sports. Obviously the city is in mourning after their Raptors got swept away by Team LeBron, and now there’s bad news on the baseball front with Blue Jays closer getting arrested Tuesday morning for assault.

Details from The Athletic:

The Toronto Police Service is withholding details to protect the identity of the alleged victim, said Constable Jenifferjit Sidhu.

Osuna, 23, has been released and is scheduled to appear in Old City Hall Court on June 18.

Constable Sidhu said police would not release the location or nature of the incident, “not because he’s a baseball player,” but because in all cases of this type, such details might lead to the identity of the woman, which is protected.

While Toronto police is keeping the identity of the victim private, TMZ reports the woman is in a relationship with Osuna.

The Blue Jays announced in a statement that Osuna has been placed on administrative leave:

I can’t remember what year it was when a Buffalo radio station had me on to talk about drunken Blue Jays fans, but it was at the height of Jays fans going absolutely nuts with drunken antics that usually includes fights in the stands, people puking on each other, doing ridiculous things while cameras are rolling and being some of the most interesting fans in baseball from a content perspective.

The good news this year is that the Blue Jays open at home — AGAINST THE TIGERS — and I have a feeling today is going to be yet another big content production for Jays fans. The Leafs are looking good. The Raptors are the Raptors. It’s time for Blue Jays fans to step up and stay weird. These are the cheapest sports tickets in town so that usually brings out the beer drinkers who get pummeled to the point to where they turn into content generators.

I was looking through the BC archives and it looks like I started focusing on Blue Jays fans in 2011-12. Here we are all these years later and the content just keeps rolling in.

Blue Jays player Reese McGuire arrested for exposing himself in a Florida parking lot / via WFLA

Poor Reese McGuire, the Blue Jays catcher who was arrested last week for indecent exposure in a Dunedin, Florida parking lot. Not only did the guy get arrested, but the arrest report over all this has been released and we now know that he was (allegedly) whacking off in his car while a porn was on his phone.

According to WFLA’s report, cops found McGuire at 2 p.m. last Friday naked from the waist down and there was an “extremely pornographic” video on his cellphone. “I really shouldn’t have been doing that,” McGuire reportedly told cops when asked why his pants were down.

TMZ goes even further and added the whacking off part from the arrest report. The guy is 24, found himself playing in 30 games last year for the Blue Jays after being a former 1st round pick and working his way all the way up to what should be more regular action in Toronto and now he has a whacking off charge on his head and in his Google Search history.

Of course he’s innocent until proven guilty, but something tells me this one is going to be settled with a fine and orders for Reese to stop whacking off in Florida parking lots. The state is weird enough as is and he doesn’t need to make it any more strange.

More from TMZ: They claim in the report when they got McGuire out of his car, he “had an erection which was very apparent.” Maybe the guy was just hard over the start of the baseball season. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

The MLB Postseason kicks off on Friday with all four Wild Card series’ getting underway in the new playoff format.

Replacing the two single-elimination Wild Card Games will be four best-of-three series’ before advancing to the best-of-five Division Series. Wild Card games will air on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2.

The four series’ are the Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians, Philadelphia Phillies vs. St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays, and San Diego Padres vs. New York Mets.

The winner of the Rays and Guardians will advance to play the New York Yankees, while the Blue Jays vs. Mariners winner will face the Houston Astros in the ALDS. In the NLDS, the Atlanta Braves will face the winner of the Cardinals vs. Phillies, while the Mets vs. Padres winner advances to face the San Diego Padres.
